Tuesday Teaser: Wings ~ Karl Friedrich

April 25, 2011

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!Check out Karl’s website for more on the book. My review will go up, tomorrow. I’m loving it, so far!

WINGS by Karl Friedrich ISBN 9781590135709

‘Women airline pilots?’ Dixie hooted. ‘Maybe in the next life, where everybody’s got their own set of wings, so it don’t matter. But if you’re talkin’ about right down here on earth in the here and now, I’m gonna have to disagree with you, hon. ‘Cause a whole bunch of men had rather fight bears barehanded than see a skirt in a cockpit. The nature of the male isn’t gonna change in my lifetime nor in yours.’

There seems to be quite a few books coming out lately focussing on female pilots! I need to start reading some of them

Oh! I’m loving this one so I’ll have to root around to find the other one. I love the era and this is written well. Especially for being written from a male voice which I was a bit wary of.

It’s a VERY interesting book, so far. It’s well done and has more than a few passages that made me run faster at the gym from pure anger! It’s a quick read and I think you’d get a kick out of it.

It’s a GREAT book. It has a lot of parts where both men and women putting limits on both sexes have gotten me VERY fired up but it’s WELL worth the read!
