I’m so exited to be on this tour.
It’s 1942 in Singapore and the Japanese troops are pouring into Singapore. Three people survive, one a little bitty baby.
Meanwhile, teenage Wang Di is forced into sex work on a military base, nearby.
Flash forward to the present and six decades of stories pour out to 2000 time period preteen, Kevin.
The stories and pathways that weave through this book are stunningly beautiful and heartbreakingly raw.
Reading this is in my final month of my final semester of my final year of graduate school to become a clinical therapist, a clinical social worker at that, was incredibly good timing.
My work and my field and my passion revolve around stories and their people and this one was everything I have set out to work on. You will absolutely need to hold on to your heart for this (and probably pack tissues).
