BTT: In or Out?

May 10, 2012

A while ago, I interviewed my readers for a change, and my final question was, “What question have I NOT asked at BTT that you’d love me to ask?” I got some great responses and will be picking out some of the questions from time to time to ask the rest of you. Like now.

Heidi had an assortment of questions to ask:

Do you consider yourself an extrovert or an introvert?

Here’s how Merriam Webster defines extrovert for those who need clarification:

one whose personality is characterized by extroversion; broadly : a gregarious and unreserved person

If there is anything I define myself as, it’s extroverted. I love people. I love spending time with people. I like talking. Good Lord, do I like talking. I love laughing. A lot. For heavens sake, people, I was a political science major. There’s no such thing as an introverted politician.

How does this effect my reading, one might ask?  I find myself more sympathetic toward chatty, crowd loving folks and have a hard time relating to protagonists who tend to play the wall flower. It also translates to my inability to keep what I’m reading to myself which is part of the reason I started this silly blog. My poor friends and family were very happy, I’m sure, that I had an outlet other than their ears, for my book thoughts.

I would consider myself an extrovert too, but I have my moments when I just want to hide. I think that is the Gemini coming out in me…my other half that needs a break now and again. I did spend a great deal of time as a youth in trouble for talking though!

I am curious mix of both. With people that I am comfortable with, I am highly extroverted. I am also extroverted when it comes to taking about subjects that I love ( like books) . But I am most at home alone and sort of hiding out. I like to be quiet for most of the day, and can’t handle too much extroversion.

Social is what blogging is all about. I guess you can still hide a bit since it is not face to face but its like working for a newspaper. Your social interactions fuel your blogging interactions.

LOL, it’s great that you like talking to people. I’m the complete opposite 🙂
