What’s the first book that you ever read more than once? (I’m assuming there’s at least one.)

What book have you read the most times? And–how many?

So, this is funny timing, I suppose. The only books I’ve ever reread are in the Harry Potter collection via reading them to my three year old. And with this I’m referring to “adult” books, as in chapter books that have some sort of physical, paginal substance to them, not picture books. I think that this will change as Kai and Gavin grow and I go through more of my favorites and classics, but I am still not the type to reread books for my very own reading pleasure. When it comes to adult books, I tend to go by the rule that the story is still going to end in the same way it did, last time. The only book I’ve come close to rereading is Umberto Eco’s Foucault’s Pendulum. I was tempted, once, but haven’t really made the full effort to dive into familiar waters. Ah, so, yes, dear Harry and co, y’all take the cake on this one.

Well, if you’re going to only reread one book (or series) Harry Potter is the one to go for. I’ve read them so many times and there’s always something that I’ve not paid attention to before or little ‘clues’ that pop up in the earlier books that I’ve not noticed before.

If my children were three I probably would have read Harry Potter. I guess they are blessings to having them grow up. My Sons have read the entire series again and again.

I think Harry Potter books are substantial enough to warrant revisiting again and again. I know I have!

    Here’s my BTT.

I don’t often read books more than once, but I have read Lorrie Moore’s Self Help many, many times. I used to have a project of reading it once a year, but I haven’t done that in a few years. It’s one of my favorite short story collections, and in my opinion is just brilliant. I like your choice of the Harry Potter books!

I don’t re-read too often (there are so many new-to-me books begging to be read), but one that I have gone back to is Travels with Charley. It’s John Steinbeck’s memoir about a road trip across America he takes with his French poodle, who steals the show.

My husband just started re-reading this series. I think the final movie coming out made him feel nostalgic.

I don’t know whether it was the first book I read twice, but it is the first (and maybe only) book I started reading again immediately after I finished reading it.

    The book:

    Dune by Frank Herbert.
But I could never get interested in the sequels.
