TSS: Let the Games Begin!
As an adult, I mostly have fan obsession for sports I didn’t play.
Don’t get on the wrong side of the Red Sox or Patriots, please and these days, tread lightly around the Falcons, Braves and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, if you know what’s good for you.
Still, it takes but a second for me to slip back into athlete-grade love for my less mainstream passions of old.
Occasionally we’ll find a lacrosse game on t.v. and I’ll snag the remote before my husband can roll his eyes and change the channel.
I also love me a whole lot of the summer olympic games, thanks to track, cycling, long distance running, rowing and the end all be all in my sports experience box: gymnastics.
If you know me, at all, you know that I am hard to handle at most mainstream sporting events (think balls, bats, bases, hoops, nets, goals and helmets) but that becomes about ten thousand times worse when it involves one of the lesser known sports that I adore more than anything. I know that most of these (rowing, marathons, cycling) are a lot like watching paint dry to those who haven’t been involved in them but they are often the ones that turn up the most controversy.
Oh, but it’s all fun and, quite literally, games.
Without dragging my opinions and nonsense into my happy (blogging) place, I’ll just stop right there, knowing that I have mean and nasty opinions about olympic drama, and just say that I am so proud of this year’s Fab Five. Go Team USA!
