BTT: And the Little Plastic Castle Is a Surprise Every Time….

June 14, 2012

A while ago, I interviewed my readers for a change, and my final question was, “What question have I NOT asked at BTT that you’d love me to ask?” I got some great responses and will be picking out some of the questions from time to time to ask the rest of you. Like now.

Sally asks:

Have you ever bought a book, started reading it and then realised you have already read it? If so, how far did you get? (Can you tell this happened to me for the first time ever this week!?!)

You would think, that of all of the ENFP, ADD, distraction-induced things I’ve done, this would come up somewhere on the list. Along with (knock on wood), never locking my keys in the car, thank goodness, I don’t think I’ve ever managed to pick up a previously read book without intending to reread it. I just bought Brave New World for a reread but that was for sentiment and the pure joy or re-experience than a forgetful repurchase.

Yes! This had actually happened to me before. Usually with books that I read a long long time ago, or books my mom read out loud to me as a kid.

This happened once or twice with my mystery series that I read. I can’t keep them straight, and I forget how far I’ve gotten on them, but I did notice that things seemed familiar in the first few chapters!

I’ve done that – more than once. I’ve locked my keys in the car before, too.

I have never unintentional reread a book before either. Luckily, I don’t have or need a car or my keys would get locked in it at least once a week.

Shamefully, it’s the Little Plastic Castles image that grabbed me first on this post — I love that album! 😉 I haven’t yet reread a book unintentionally but I recall my days working in a bookstore we had lots of readers discover James Patterson novels were being released with new titles — folks weren’t aware of that and many came in complaining they had already read them!

It happened awhile back, but realized it soon enough.
