BTT: Size Matters

What’s the largest your personal library has ever been? What’s the greatest number of books you’ve ever owned at one time? (Estimates are fine.)

Is your collection NOW the biggest it’s ever been? Or have you down-sized?

What’s the fewest number of books you’ve ever owned (not counting your pre-reading years)?

Oh, I have no idea! I would say that, yes, right now, my library is the biggest it’s ever been. The reason is that I am a full-fledged adult with my own space and freedom, as well as bank account, to grow my library as I please. I’ve always had a fairly sizable collection of books but, right now I have about two bookshelves of fiction and two of nonfiction which, again, is the largest collection I’ve ever kept up with.

I think that, in college, I physically amassed, fewer books in my dorm room or apartment as I had less space, low funds and no time to read for pleasure.

As an adult, we do have that freedom. To acquire as many books as we want!!

It is fun being at the stage where we can enjoy buying books we want to read… but I do feel the odd twinge of guilt for my other half… http://unicornslaststand.blogspot.com/

Yes a dorm room would limit the books significantly. I love being an adult with my own book space.

    My BTT answer.

Ahhhhhh, books. I have often thought that when I am elderly, I want to just read. That’s all. Just read books. Space is good; so is money. But I use the library to satisfy my fix when I’m low on funds.

I can’t even remember how many books I had with me in college. Possibly just a few, along with required textbooks. It would be neat if I could remember which books I chose to bring…I think I remember two of them but that’s it.

I like having my own space, no matter the size, to surround myself with books of my choosing.

    Here’s MY BTT POST

My library now is much larger than it has ever before been in my life. Aside from bookshelves in all the rooms, I have storage boxes in the garage, and books all over tables and surfaces. Some would really say that it’s sort of out of control at this point, and I probably wouldn’t argue. I think part of the issue is that I now have the funds and space to grow my library to alarming proportions.

As I got older there is more reading time.

Yes, the longer I’ve been an adult, the more books I’ve acquired!

I’m currently downsizing my library right now. But even after giving away about ten big boxes of books, I still have enough books to fit about 12 bookcases!
